Kiva Han Gets the Thumbs Down

Today’s Zaman has a review of Kiva Han, a restaurant near the Galata Tower that tries to be a Beyoğlu version of Asian side favorite Çiya. It’s not a favorable review:

All in all, our experience at the new Galata Kiva Han was extremely disappointing, and on second thought, I should have kept walking down the road to Karaköy, leapt on the ferry to Kadıköy and headed to my favorite table at Çiya. Or settled for some lahmacun from the tiny shop on the way down. I had expected more.

well i think things have changed. i’ve been to ciya in the last six months, was NOT impressed, just went to kiva the other night and thought it was some of the best turkish food i’ve had. excellent salads, fresh, with tangy dressings; very good dolmas. i didn’t have the roast lamb but my tablemates did and liked it a lot.

  3. Interesting…we’ll have to get back to Kiva Han and check things out. Certainly always seems crowded.

We went to Kiva twice last week – fantastic meals and excellent service! Warm thank’s to the young chef and the waiters

  6. Had dinner at Kiva tonight. Wow. What a stunningly bad meal. They wrecked three types of dolma. Even the best dish was quite average. Nonetheless the place was packed–almost exclusively with foreign tourists.

  7. I agree with Katie Parla. Food is not good, but I did like to sit on the plaza and have a herbal drinks there. Now there are no tables outside so no reason to go.
