Kudos to the Istanbul Eats team for getting into the drinking business. Growth industry! Araf is truly an excellent establishment for getting well and properly lit to good music, without feeling the need to wear cufflinks and a smoking jacket. The smoking ban makes it a lot more toxic then it used to be. I have definitely seen a gay man try to hook up with a dude as he was making out with a chick on the dance floor here. I also think if they met in a dark alley, Cumbus Cemaat could kick those campy Gogol Bordello guy's butts any day of the week. PEACE!

Antman[from the Chowhound board]mentioned that this was one of his favorite spots and after reading the above I'm champing at the bit. What are some other places like Araf?

I'm traveling to Istanbul soon, staying in Sultanahmet for the first week,Beyoglu for the second and am looking for "rough and tumble saloons" to while away my evenings in.Thanks y'all
